{"id":374,"date":"2024-12-10T15:23:24","date_gmt":"2024-12-10T15:23:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shirleyjacksonstudies.org\/?p=374"},"modified":"2024-12-10T15:24:40","modified_gmt":"2024-12-10T15:24:40","slug":"conference-information","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shirleyjacksonstudies.org\/?p=374","title":{"rendered":"Conference Information"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Call for Papers<br>\u201cShirley Jackson and Folk Horror\u201d and \u201cShirley Jackson: Open Topic\u201d<br>Sponsored by the Shirley Jackson Society<br>American Literature Association Annual Conference<br>May 21-24, 2025<br>The Westin Copley Place, Boston, MA<\/strong><br>The Shirley Jackson Society invites scholars at all stages of their careers to submit to our panels for the American Literature Association\u2019s 36th Annual Conference in Boston, May 21-24, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><br>We are planning for two panels this year: one on Shirley Jackson and Folk Horror, and a second open topic panel. For Shirley Jackson and Folk Horror, we invite papers that read Jackson in or in relation to the tradition of folk horror. Papers may consider Jackson\u2019s references to folklore (including folk<br>tales, folk songs, folk traditions, and folk archetypes), use of folkloric figures such as witches and demons, and incorporation of fairy tale elements, as well as her characters\u2019 engagement with and creation of myths and rituals. We also welcome papers considering Jackson\u2019s influence on contemporary folk horror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><br>For the Open Topic panel, we invite papers on any topic related to Jackson.
